Do Insignificant Things

Do Insignificant Things

What is the point of doing something if you can’t even notice that it’s been done, right? How will we assess our progress or feel that we accomplished anything? We are taught to go big or go home…we strive for personal glory. And, we want it now! More so now than ever, we live in a fast-paced world where a meal is only a drive-thru away and we work through the night to get results tomorrow. Then, shortly thereafter, we walk over the mess and wonder why it’s crumbling. Society teaches us that convenience is greater than patience. But has it shown us that this is really true?

There are many sayings that point out that, once upon a time, men and women thought the opposite was true. We still see examples of it everywhere. Things that took time or slow, methodical actions were once considered insignificant but history has shifted. In nature, it is the tree that grows the most slowly that is the strongest. Think Small

think small

Volkswagen had just launched the VW Beetle in 1960 to the U.S. market. Detroit was busy making vehicles which were expanding in size to suit growing baby boomer families. Let’s take a look at worry and why we’re better off without it.

Worry likes to think of all the worst possible “what-if’s” about things that we have no control over and makes us believe we are subject to their outcome. It always looks to the negative side of things. While guilt tells us in the past we were totally in control and have messed up, worry plays the opposite hand and tries to show us that we are and will be Read the rest of this entry »

“Cleaning House” to Relieve Stress

stress

The term “cleaning house” has two meanings which fall under the heading of letting go of things that no longer serve you. First, there’s the literal meaning – cleaning your actual house. There’s also the figurative meaning – getting rid of “emotional baggage”. Both are great stress relievers.

First, your physical surroundings… You experience unnecessary stress from living and working in a cluttered, disorganized environment. The time spent de-cluttering provides balance and is well worth the effort.

Start simple. Begin with a space that needs the least amount of work…a place that could be clutter free in 15 minutes. If you see quick results, you’ll Read the rest of this entry »
