Listening – It’s More Than Not Talking

The inability to comprehend what is being said, rather than simply opening our ears, is becoming a prominent problem in our society. According to eHarmony, an online dating service, the number two cause of breakups and divorce in the United States is lack of communication. Intimate relationships with our fellow human beings are destroyed because we do not know how to listen to one another! In addition, effective communication skills are valued in employees. The number one reason people are fired is not their inability to learn, but their inability to communicate.
Our ability to selectively hear not only keep us consciously unaware, but also hurts our relationships to the point of decay. Listening can help us in our relationships, our Read the rest of this entry »
Should I Quit or Keep Going?

Are you on the right path? Should you quit or stick it out? Are you frustrated thinking you’re working and working and, yet, not accomplishing anything? Should you keep going…persevere? Or, would it be better to give up. Maybe the universe is giving you a sign that you’re going in the wrong direction.
Well, those are questions that have come to my mind recently…and, frequently as I pursue my entrepreneurial path and financial goals. I get up each morning with a well-defined “to do” list. I accomplish each of those tasks and cross them off one by one. I get up Read the rest of this entry »
But…They’re So Old!

Time passes very quickly. Often it’s the ones closest to us that suffer as we seem to assume they’ll be around forever. We skirt in and out of their lives at our convenience. Luckily, I’ve found that if I give my grandparents the opportunity, they prove to be a treasure trove of wisdom, information Read the rest of this entry »
Living From the Inside Out
We are conditioned to live from the outside in. Somewhere along the way we chose to believe our results control our actions. Rather, the truth is that everything you have in your life is an expression of what’s going on inside…in your mind. The Law of Attraction works on your beliefs…which are held in the subconscious mind.
I had a conversation this morning with a very dear friend of mine. For conversation’s sake, I’ll call him Mike. He’s been in a relationship for a few months but he informed me that they’ve decided to call it quits. Mike told me they hit it off in an amazing way initially, but it’s been going down hill steadily. He’s come to the realization that he keeps “attracting” the same type of people into his relationships. Initially, they all “look” different but his outcome is always the same. Mike’s noticing a pattern and he wishes he could stop the cycle.
It’s always easier being the person on the outside of a relationship looking in. Here’s how I see the cycle: Mike has a fragile self-image even though the typical observer sees a friendly, caring, confident individual. At a conscious level Mike is attracted to women that see him as sociable, compassionate and secure. But, subconsciously, at the deepest level, he is attracted to women that will eventually confirm his belief that he’s “not good enough”.
Mike needs to get to the cause of his belief…and modify it. Anything else is merely an attempt to bury the symptoms. As I mentioned, the Law of Attraction works on your beliefs…
I’m positive Mike would like to have a Better Day! For now, he remains grateful for the little things in life — the California sunshine, an ocean breeze, fish tacos, good friends and work that he loves! I’m all about noticing and appreciating what’s around us until we are able to address the cause. I’m wishing you a Better Day!
