Normal vs. Natural

Are You On Autopilot?

Have you ever been in your car driving to a particular destination only to arrive and realize that you didn’t remember seeing anything or anyone along the way? Or maybe you started eating your dinner, took a few bites and then noticed the plate was completely empty. I think we’ve all had similar experiences. These are examples of mindlessness…we’re on “autopilot”.
We all fall into habits that result in our not being present or tuned in to our own lives. By doing this we might miss out on some amazing opportunities. Or we might be unaware of some really important information related to Read the rest of this entry »
Potential’s Unlimited
I’m continually fascinated by technology. I’m sitting on an airplane at about 30,000 feet just over Phoenix, Arizona (according to the pilot)…and I’m connected to the internet writing this blog post! In another window I’m carrying on a Skype conversation with a business partner. Oops…was just cautioned by the flight attendant, “No video chatting is allowed”. Well, that’s ok. As long as I can ‘chat’, I’ll get the job done. Pretty cool how this works, huh?
So, that gets me thinking…we’ve come so far so fast. Couldn’t connect to the internet while in flight a year ago! Well, I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t even connected to the internet 15 years ago! Can you even imagine the changes that will take place in the next 15 years? Actually boggles the mind!
When you think about the mind and what’s possible, the potential’s really unlimited. I continue to wonder what might BE. And, I’m not limiting that to technology… I mean what might be possible if we really utilize the full potential of our mind? What questions might be answered? What problems might be solved? What beliefs might be shattered?
We don’t really know what change looks like, do we? Here’s to a Better Day…

Living From the Inside Out
We are conditioned to live from the outside in. Somewhere along the way we chose to believe our results control our actions. Rather, the truth is that everything you have in your life is an expression of what’s going on inside…in your mind. The Law of Attraction works on your beliefs…which are held in the subconscious mind.
I had a conversation this morning with a very dear friend of mine. For conversation’s sake, I’ll call him Mike. He’s been in a relationship for a few months but he informed me that they’ve decided to call it quits. Mike told me they hit it off in an amazing way initially, but it’s been going down hill steadily. He’s come to the realization that he keeps “attracting” the same type of people into his relationships. Initially, they all “look” different but his outcome is always the same. Mike’s noticing a pattern and he wishes he could stop the cycle.
It’s always easier being the person on the outside of a relationship looking in. Here’s how I see the cycle: Mike has a fragile self-image even though the typical observer sees a friendly, caring, confident individual. At a conscious level Mike is attracted to women that see him as sociable, compassionate and secure. But, subconsciously, at the deepest level, he is attracted to women that will eventually confirm his belief that he’s “not good enough”.
Mike needs to get to the cause of his belief…and modify it. Anything else is merely an attempt to bury the symptoms. As I mentioned, the Law of Attraction works on your beliefs…
I’m positive Mike would like to have a Better Day! For now, he remains grateful for the little things in life — the California sunshine, an ocean breeze, fish tacos, good friends and work that he loves! I’m all about noticing and appreciating what’s around us until we are able to address the cause. I’m wishing you a Better Day!
Are You Looking For Something “New”?
How do you describe something that’s “new”? It’s an interesting question that was posed last night. It’s more like a puzzle… For instance, if you were asked to describe a new color, but not use any of the three primary colors, how would you do that? Could you do that? I was caught in a trap again…you can’t really “think” of something new, can you? You can only “think” of something that you already know.
As I’ve worked intimately with technology for years, I tend to use computers in my analogies. So, here goes… Simply speaking, the computer accepts data and stores it on a hard drive. It can only reason, compute or analyze based on the data it’s been fed. If we want it to evaluate or consider additional data, we have to first input the new information.
As individuals, our intellectual mind is very much like a computer. We are able to reason, compute or analyze based on data we’ve been fed. Henry Ford is quoted as saying, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” Why would this be true? Ford’s potential customers had no information in their mind about automobiles so how would they have been able to describe an automobile?
Let’s face it, our tendency as a society is to believe what we see…not see what we believe. If anyone has an idea or thought on how to describe something “new”, I’m open to feedback. Maybe we’ll find a “new” way to have a Better Day!
