Is there a science to happiness? According to the girl Scouts, the answer is a resounding “yes”.
Recently the Girl Scouts merit badges underwent a major overhaul. One of the merit badges in particular was very controversial. Girl Scouts can now earn a Science of Happiness badge. The thought process is that happiness can be scientifically analyzed.

There’s been a long debate as to whether or not listening to music helps you improve what you’re doing or is merely a distraction. As the medical research on this topic deepens, so does the evidence that the kids in school begging to turn the radio on were right all along. Music is shown to have a positive effect on grades and produce positive emotional and physical effects as well. It’s the unconscious mind at work.

Worry – Useless Emotion #2

If guilt is the most useless emotion, worry has to slide in as the second. The only reason we call guilt useless before worry is because it’s already in the past, where we are not. Worry is equally if not more pointless and detrimental to our lives. It can hold us back, scare us and can even have negative physical effects on us.
